It’s that time of year. A new month and 365 days of unwritten words on the book of our upcoming life.

Most people don’t plan and let life happen to them. Studies have proven over and over again just winging it isn’t a very effective strategy.

The next category is New Year’s Resolution setters. This group gives 5 minutes or so to thinking about the next 12 months and casual throws out a few resolutions. Less than 5% of that group make any significant progress on them. Definitely, not a good strategy if you want to achieve anything of significance in your life.

Lastly, is the group known for being great achievers. The action oriented people in that group review their previous year and plan out their future. They factor in discoveries about themselves, with their desires and current circumstances. They have what Carol Dweck, a professor of Psychology at Stanford University calls have a growth mindset vs a fixed mindset.

In the year 2008 I started writing out goals. In 2010 I started using a planner that focused on a growth mindset. I even created my own version of one in 2015. One of the key philosophies I learned is to be open.

That being said I NOT only use my planner but I also use other planners to test, practice and integrate the teachings of mentors and teachers that I respect and follow. One of them is author Brendon Burchard whose teachings is based on research on high performance.

In this video, I do a DEEP dive into the pros and cons of Brendon Burchard’s brand new (first year out) 2019 HIGH PERFORMANCE PLANNER. At the time of writing this blog post I have actually used his planner consistently for 6 weeks. Below are my thoughts.

PROS: This planner is a GREAT scheduling tool with lots of space to write (with a two page spread for each day) for mindset, reflective thoughts and priority setting. Because I am a High Performance and Mindset Strategy Coach this really caught my attention. I absolutely LOVE the evening journaling section (my fav).

I am also an ADVOCATE of habit creation tools because notably it is NOT what we KNOW but what we DO that matters most.

Enjoy this episode and I would love to hear your thoughts. Let’s make 2019 our BEST year, shall we?
