Harvard professor, Amy Cuddy’s is well known for her TED Talk which now has over 43 million views.
Her non-tech life hack research shows that just assuming a “power pose” or postures from high power (think Wonder Woman with her hands on her hips and legs strongly planted on the ground, or the guy in your office that has his arms folded confidently behind his head) does the following:
* reduces cortisol (the stress hormone)
* Increases your confidence
This information validates what we already know- our physical state (and even body posture) influences our mental state. AND…we can change it in 2 minutes FLAT. I love the science backing up what many of us have suspected for a long time. By changing your physiology FIRST, you can change your mind and your future.
I have a few more ideas you can add to this one as well.
1.) Rebounding – In just 2-3 minutes your body will become more energized.
2.) Breath Work – Slowly inhaling in for a count of 4 and exhaling out for a count of 4 for just 2- 3 minutes makes you calmer and more focused.
3.) Dancing to a great song- Moving the body to the rhythm of music will bring more joy into your life and make you feel good all over.
